Staff Announcement

7 June, 2011

The Management and Staff of Gateway Indoor Percussion are proud to announce 2 huge additions to our design team for the 2012 season.

Our first addition will be at the position of program coordinator and percussion designer. Mr. Michael McIntosh will be joining the Gateway family in 2012. This will be a huge and game-changing addition to the staff. Michael had this to say about the new endeavor:

"Making the step from judge to designer is a bit harrowing considering the level of artistry present in today's PIW shows. That being said, an opportunity to create art with friends was too good to pass up. Gateway Percussion has a quality staff, a great board of directors, a transparent, educationally-based mission statement and most importantly, GREAT members. I am very excited to be a part of the 2012 Gateway production that will provide an awesome experience for our performers and hopefully generate some heat throughout the 2012 winter season!"

Michael's bio includes designing for The Cavaliers, The Bluecoats, Carmel High School, and many other top marching ensembles, not to mention that he has served as one of three, peer elected judge representatives on the WGI steering committee and advisory board, heading up the General Effect caption. The second major addition to the program will be at the position of visual designer. Gateway is excited to partner with Richard Hinshaw for the 2012 visual package. Rich is currently the drill designer and lead visual instructor for the Avon High School Marching Black & Gold, three-time BOA National Champions (2008-2010), where he also designs for their championship scholastic percussion program. He is currently the program coordinator and drill designer for The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps from Tempe, Arizona, and he has also worked with the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps, Spirit Drum & Bugle Corps, and Phantom Regiment. Richard's complete bio can be found here: http://www.richardhinshaw.com/#!bio

On the new additions, Gateway Co-Founder and CEO Paul Richardson had the following to say: "These two men have obviously been a part, or even the driving force behind, some of the most successful marching products the world has seen. Gateway Indoor Percussion is really excited about working with these two gentlemen, and we look forward to entering the competitive season in 2012 with a bang. Michael McIntosh and Richard Hinshaw are creating the Gateway product in 2012. You don't have to say much more than that. It's going to be a fun season."
