Gateway Design Team Complete

Gateway Indoor is excited to announce the addition of Alan Miller as front ensemble arranger for the coming 2012 WGI season. Alan completes the team that consists of Michael McIntosh program coordinator and battery arranger and Richard Hinshaw visual designer.

"I'm very excited to be joining the Gateway organization and am honored at the opportunity to work with their experienced and talented staff. It's a special treat to be working alongside Mike McIntosh again. I look forward to what I think will be a successful and memorable season.”

The 2012 show design process is underway and everyone is very excited to start the 2012 WGI season. The first round of auditions is scheduled for October 2nd. Alan currently lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area where he serves as percussion director for Coppell ISD. His duties include teaching 6th-8th grade percussion classes at three middle schools and directing the drumline and percussion ensemble at Coppell High School.

For the last 9 years, Alan has been the front ensemble instructor for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and, in 2011, took on the role of Front Ensemble Arranger. Alan also assists in teaching the full ensemble and percussion ensemble.

Alan began his career with the corps in 1996 as a member of the front ensemble, then returning as section leader in '97 and '98. Alan attended and received his bachelor's degree from West Texas A & M University, where he studied percussion with Dr. Susan Tariq and conducting with Dr. Gary Garner. During his time at WT, Alan was a member of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, serving as a percussionist and timpanist for 9 seasons. Alan is also involved in WGI, having served as an instructor and music director for Metro Alliance from 2005-2007.

Alan has arranged both battery and pit music for several Texas State marching band finalists including Coppell HS (3rd place, 2008) and Dripping Springs HS (1st place, 2009). Alan has also arranged for groups outside of Texas and has presented clinics throughout much of the United States, as well as in Japan.
