A New Gateway to the West
Gateway Indoor Percussion has gone through a makeover
this off-season, starting with a new partnership with the Pearl/Adams Corporation
in the late spring. The staff and membership would like to send out a huge thanks
to Rudy and everyone at Pearl/Adams for making this deal happen. In combination
with all of our other partners (Evans, Innovative Percussion, Sabian, Treeworks and
Mozingo Music), Gateway now feels we will truly be playing
on the best equipment, with the best sticks on the best heads.
In addition to the new equipment, Gateway is excited about the
new mix of designers and arrangers for this season. One of the most exciting items
on this list is the return of DCI judge Mike Davis as a program coordinator. Mike
is one of the founders of Gateway Indoor and after a 2 season hiatus is back home
with the project he started in the summer of 2003. In addition to Mike, the revamped
design team consists of Jason Palmer, Chad Schaedler, and Brad Palmer. Jason was
the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps visual caption head this past DCI season, is the current
director of percussion at the PSW finalist Fred J. Page High School, and has been
on the instructional staff at Music City Mystique. Chad Schaedler and Brad Palmer
will be returning as the battery and front ensemble arrangers respectively. Chad
and Brad are both on the percussion staff with the Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps.
This year’s show is entitled “Michael” and promises to be an exciting, entertaining
program featuring the music and movement of Michael Jackson. “Everything about Gateway
will be new this season from what we do, to how we do it, to what we do it on”,
says New Operations Director Alexis Abril. Auditions for Gateway Indoor will be
Saturday November 10th and Saturday November 17th.
Gateway Indoor is a two time PIW finalist based out of St. Louis Missouri.
